San Pedro City Ballet

Welcome to San Pedro City Ballet’s Home on the Web

San Pedro City Ballet, based in San Pedro, California, was established in 1994 by nationally recognized dancers and teachers Cynthia and Patrick Bradley, as a not-for-profit dance theater company serving greater Los Angeles. The company comprises twenty dancers and is supplemented by up to 180 additional cast members from the Community. We present two public performance series annually at El Camino College Center for the Arts Marsee Auditorium in Torrance, California. The Nutcracker is performed every December, and a spring repertory program is performed over a three-day weekend. In addition the company, through its outreach programs, holds performance workshops throughout the city of Los Angeles. More than ten thousand residents saw the company perform during the 1999 season.

Mission Statement (What Makes Us Unique)

Our mission is to identify, train, and promote a world-class professional dance company from the diverse population of the Los Angeles Harbor area that is founded in a base of classical dance works and traditions, and goes beyond to explore new contemporary original work.

Community

The company provides a service to the community through donations of tickets to its annual performances. Last year the San Pedro Performing Arts Center donated 2,000 tickets to schools and organizations such as Los Angeles Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Club of San Pedro, Toberman Settlement House, Hope for Kids, plus several groups for abused and battered children.

Goals

Our goal over the next five years is to expand our activities in three areas of priority: One, presenting programs of a world-class caliber in a broad range of styles to meet the needs of our diverse city; two, identifying, training, and promoting our own dancers; and three, bringing dance to the people with three programs annually from our home stage and a comprehensive outreach program of performances, lecture/demonstrations, and master classes held throughout the city. An example is the Special Preview Performance of Nutcracker 2004 held exclusively for more than 1,500 underserved children.
